File Notes
New Map: Needleosity
As my second Halo CE map, I bring you Needleosity, a small map designed to work well with its modded needlers. A needler map? What a great idea! So great in fact that I had to steal it from shadowbreaker! And none of this thievery would even have occured if missinglink117 hadn't made a needle nade cool enough to inspire us all :)
That's right, the grenades are NOT MINE, missinglink117 made them and was willing to put them in my map. They're really cool because they're bouncy like frags, sticky like plasmas, and needles shoot out when they explode! As for the mods I made, I changed the needler to make it fire quicker needles with better homing, while cutting down the clip size to avoid making it godly. I also made rockets sticky and homing, and made the shotgun fire needles of its own. So for anyone counting, that's 4 different ways that you can tear your opponents up in an explosion of needle-ey goodness. My best advice is to make sure you have good cover and enough time to get behind it if someone comes around the corner, and for goodness' sake, if you are getting bad FPS, turn off specular! ;)
Now as I said, the map is small, but it is also rather twisted, so I'm going to offer some navigation tips. When you are standing in the central room, it is important to remember that the main paths to the bases curl around in a clockwise direction pretty far to the right, while the teleporter rooms with the columns just stick straight out. Because of this, it is possible to confuse which base you actually seeing an oddball or other navpoint inside. Remember that if the nav point is even just a little to the left of the red beacon in the center room, it is most likely in the blue base, and vice versa. If that doesn't make sense, play a few CTF games and you'll get it in no time.
I'd like to thank shadowbreaker for not murdering me, and missinglink117, aka Jacob, for letting me use his awesome grenades. I will also thank my main testers, Boxer and dr_saius, and all the rest of my dedicated and helpful testers: Farsight, missinglink117, MACE and his clan, oddworld, and Jack Bauer. And as always, thanks to Baka for chimp!
